USICS to accept only existing edition of Form N-400

USICS to accept only existing edition of Form N-400

USCIS
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USICS) will allow only the existing version of Form N-400, dated 13 September 2013, and reject any naturalization application using earlier versions, effective 5 May 2014.
Form N-400’s modified version was issued by the USICS on 4 February 2014. As USICS has moved to the redesigned form, it permitted candidates to use earlier versions of Form N-400 for a transition period of 90 days i.e. till 4 May 2014, after which all the applications using previous versions will be returned back.
The modified Form N-400 comes with clear instructions which can make it more user-friendly. Its improved 2D barcode technology made it more efficient and maintains data in a more accurate way which in-turn results in reducing the number of rejected forms. However, the eligibility criterion for naturalization remains same.
USICS advised its customers to fill the Form N-400 electronically by using 2D barcode. People who are unable to fill the form electronically, may take a print out and fill it by hand using black ink. In order to avoid any sort of delays, the applicants are expected to make sure that they have attached relevant documents, filing fee and sign the form.
